Reasons for splashing during converter steelmaking:

Splashing is very common in converter steelmaking. The density of molten steel in the furnace is about 7.0tm3, and the density of slag is 3.2t/m3. The slag is covered on the molten steel. The carbon oxygen reaction is inhibited below 1470 ° C, but it can be carried out smoothly above 1470 ° C. If it is not done properly (such as the improper addition of the second batch of slag materials), the temperature of the slag will be reduced to below 1470 ° C, and the oxygen supply will lead to the enrichment of (FeO) in the slag. Then, as the temperature rises above 1470 ° C, the carbon oxygen will react violently, and a large amount of CO gas will be generated instantaneously. The slag will be seriously foam, and the C gas will not be discharged in time, resulting in explosion Spontaneous spatter.

Measures to reduce splashing:

In order to control the reaction rate of carbon and oxygen in the furnace and reduce slag splashing, the current solutions include: firstly, changing the gun position and oxygen supply system. However, the method used generally leaks after the reaction, which is a remedial measure and the effect is not ideal

Timely change the slag composition, add foam slag inhibitor before the splash sign or just after the splash, and then quickly react with the slag, increase the slag viscosity, reduce the content of (Fe ○) in foam slag, slow down the C-○ reaction, make the metal droplets in foam slag settle, which can effectively inhibit the occurrence of splash. On the basis of comprehensive consideration, it is decided to use foam slag inhibitor to reduce the splash phenomenon. According to the reaction between the Ca ○ content in the slag during the blowing process and the viscosity and melting point of the converter slag, it can be seen that an increase in Ca ○ content reflects an increase in slag viscosity. Therefore, when designing inhibitor components, a quantitative amount of Ca ○ should be added, and flammable and volatile substances should be added at the same time, which is conducive to eliminating C ○ bubbles trapped in the slag.

Usage: add "foam slag inhibitor" from the high level silo before the splash sign or just when the splash occurs in the blowing process. The addition amount is 0.8-2kg/t per batch.

Converter foam inhibitor is an inevitable product in converter process. The splashing of converter foam slag often occurs in the process of converter production. The frequency of converter foam slag splashing mainly depends on the converter capacity ratio, oxygen supply intensity and operator level. Generally, the splashing of converter foam slag will cause 1.5% heat loss; 5-10% loss of slag material and 2-4 kg/t. s metal loss.
